Board Member
Taya Pocock, currently Director of Panomatics USA, has a diverse background in fields related to photography, music, international relations and cultural understanding.
Trained as a cultural anthropologist at the University of Arizona, Taya went on to obtain an MFA in Performing Arts Management from the City University of New York. Her determination to combine these fields of study resulted from a deeply felt desire to assist and advance the acknowledgement of regional and indigenous music groups within the World Music sector. Believing that it is more important to focus on those aspects within culture that are uplifting and healing, Taya worked at numerous organizations, including as Assistant to Director of A/R at the internationally acclaimed world-music record label Putumayo, and at New York´s legendary Lincoln Center.
Having lived in Germany for large portions of her childhood, Taya returned after her studies to Germany in 2003 to live with husband, Photographer Daniel Huber. Before opening their current company, Panomatics USA, Taya spent five years in Germany working in numerous capacities, including as an event planner at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, one of the leading hotels of the world, as a freelance marketing and promotions consultant for high-profile companies, including Bentley Motors, BMW, Mercedes, Mini, and Hammerknecht, and as a translator and book editor (English/German).
Since moving to Ventura, Ca. in April 2008, Taya and Daniel have established the first U.S. office of Panomatics, a virtual tour provider that offers customized and highly sophisticated 360° panoramic tours for web marketing. Their innovative city tour, Virtual Ventura, which enables online viewers to “stroll” through the streets from one high-resolution, 360° panoramic image to another, inviting the viewer to enter and browse through shops, restaurants, hotels, galleries, cultural institutions and more, has been widely praised and recognized in local and national media.
As a GHP board director, Taya hopes to vibrantly contribute to GHP’s mission of documenting the human condition with inspiration, passion and a sense of global awareness. Her contacts throughout the community and her outgoing and enthusiastic perspective make Taya well equipped to advocate on behalf of the vision and projects initiated by GHP.
